We would like to acknowledge Dr Ian Tiley’s valuable contribution to human rights.

Dr Tiley was one of many deserving nominations from a strong field of entries for the Bill Armstrong AO Human Rights Award.

He received a special acknowledgement during the Award presentation for his unique experience in the political arena which has assisted our communities with developing their advocacy skills.

Since 2002, he has been involved in 27 projects. He has used his vast knowledge and skills to support communities with grant submission, policy development and mentoring for communities to attain skills in advocacy and lobbying.

His contribution in providing these essential skills has allowed communities to gain confidence and use their own voices to advocate for their individual community needs.

“The feedback I receive from my communities is that he is respectful, easy to work with, and allows others to provide guidance on how they want the project to be fulfilled,” Gwen, Senior Community Development Officer.

“He provides feedback and guidance when called for and is always respectful of First Nations people and their customs, culture and needs.”

Dr Tiley is currently working on 6 projects with Community First Development, ranging from large grant applications to lobbying projects. He never slows down and enjoys his interactions with Aboriginal communities across Australia, a passion which keeps driving him.

He is in great demand within our organisation and we thank him sincerely for his commitment.
