Community First Development Volunteer, Russell Jaffe, nominated for Volunteer of the Year Awards 2021
Community First Development is thrilled to hear that our much-loved volunteer, Russell Jaffe, is nominated as a finalist in the Third Sector, Volunteer of the Year Awards 2021.
Five finalists for the Third Sector Awards have been announced to honour the most extraordinary volunteers from around Country. The award is an opportunity for volunteers to demonstrate leadership and innovation within the community. The nominees are judged based on their social impact, outcomes, collaboration and leadership.
Russell’s 40+ years of volunteer work are based on his extensive experience as a community worker then consultant, focusing entirely on enhancing third sector organisations and strengthening their impact and effectiveness. His passion and commitment to social justice show up in all his work. He loves assisting organisations in developing awareness and insight into what is needed for their community and ensures maximum impact. Russell’s work often establishes a blueprint for organisational change and development.
Russell’s cross-cultural work includes extensive involvement with Maori communities in New Zealand and his volunteer work with Aboriginal communities. He has completed multiple projects with Community First Development across Australia (especially for remote communities) since 2012. He has also given significant volunteer support for over a decade to the African Australian community.
He was the key to establishing a major recreation program for ‘Maccabi All Abilities’ participants in Melbourne in 2008 and has mentored the Program Coordinator for the past ten years. His community fundraising efforts as President of the Maccabi Sports Foundation since 2003 have resulted in a massive influx of funds for the organisation.
He loves the challenge of synthesising ‘management speak’ to community needs, capturing the essence of what a community or an organisation wants and encouraging them to trust their knowledge and learning.
We hope you will join us in supporting Russell in his nomination as Volunteer of the Year 2021.
