Policy Development Coordinator
Canberra Location (interstate and WFH considered on application)
Fixed term part time (3 or 4 days per week, for 3 or 4 months)
Community First Development is a First Nations’ led community development and research organisation that creates positive change in and with First Nations’ communities. We undertake social and economic development, and research projects in partnership with First Nations’ communities, businesses and people. Communities have control; they name the priorities and choose the design, assets, capabilities and approach to achieve their vision. We provide tailored support through community partners, skilled staff, trained volunteers, supporters and service providers.
The Policy Development Coordinator will be responsible for the evaluation and review of HR, ITC and finance policies and the development, drafting (based on expert advice), and coordination of new policies as required. The role requires a pro-active approach to planning, communication and a strong understanding of policies and processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Undertake research and analysis to provide evidence-based recommendations on current policies.
Define and document policy issues and provide recommended outcomes.
Prepare new and draft policy documentation for review in consultation with expert providers
Support Management in overseeing the policy review process ensuring clear communication with staff.
Prepare and establish new internal processes for HR Administration functions, including creating automated functions (eg with powerautomate or Microsoft forms) to process manager initiated HR updates and communications to staff that will be actioned via Employment Hero integrated letters and communications.
Other financial or corporate services duties as required with manager support as necessary.
KEY CAPABILITIES
Proven skills, ability and experience or relevant qualification and experience to research, acquire, review, compile and develop appropriate policy and compliance documentation, and work collaboratively on the advice of external specialist advisors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work independently
High proficiency in Microsoft products, in particular Word, Sharepoint, Teams PowerAutomate, Forms and Flow or the enthusiasm to learn, utilise, integrate and teach.
