Nine self-determining Aboriginal communities in Australia have shared their dreams with us – effective strategies of revitalisation and resurgence.
Some key themes have emerged out of these strategies that they are leading:
Community based enterprise is an effective vehicle of change and can be an expression of cultural identity and pride
Intergenerational connection is intentionally designed and integrated within community-led solutions
Cultural, social and emotional wellbeing is prioritised, with economic benefits viewed as complementary rather than central
Does this resonate with you? Do you have a different perspective?
We would love to hear from you! Please provide your comments below.
What we are learning together, and the information gathered, is being used to improve our development approach at Community First Development (internally), inform others on what is important for First Nations community organisations, and share learning among First Nations Peoples in Australia and globally.
You are invited to share your thoughts and experiences on your terms, by determining how much you would like to share, whether you would like it shared publicly, and the type of connection you would like to continue with this research discussion and data going forward.
Aggregated data will be deidentified as ‘comments gathered from participants during the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues 2024’. Individual comments will not be shared without first contacting the survey respondent to seek their permission.
